Elza leaned against the wall after shutting the door to Vorador’s chamber with her tail. Thoughtfully she played her tongue over one fang. He had gotten up in the morning, woken her up with a kiss then proceeded to dress, saying he was going to the kitchen for a pastry. He liked them fresh, had standing orders with the cooks to make available three different varieties each day. Not many would guess the sweet tooth the Prince had since returning from the dead. Elza had requested a croissant instead and rolled back over to doze off again.

Somehow Vorador had forgotten not only that he was on his way to the kitchen, he’d forgotten that she was still in his bed when he brought some woman into his room. Not until the bed was rocking did Elza wake up and pull the covers down to see Tamona with Vorador. Tamona hadn’t turned a hair when she realized another woman was in the bed with them, quite the contrary. He’d done this before, forgotten she was in his bed on a few occasions, making it necessary for her to gate out of the royal chamber when she realized it wasn’t the Prince opening the door but his last mistress, Syriana. Another side to Vorador, he liked danger and cheap thrills.

She began to sashay down the hall, Alexander’s words coming back to her from just the night before. “He’s done more in the past few years to destroy the Maximov name than in preceding three centuries combined!” Unfortunately it was true. It was also true that Alex did more and more of the everyday running of Proudglaive than his father with each passing month. The young Duke was at court everyday while his father ventured from one liaison to another. She had not argued with Alex, there was no sense in denying the truth, indeed she had barely spoken a word, just let him vent on her. His sons all knew what the people did and restless rumors were murmured all over the land about the unstableness of their Prince.

Bypassing first her chamber, than her office, the succubus walked down the stairs then made her way slowly towards the hall that led to the wing that housed the servants. Elza needed to check on the young woman that Vorador set up there. It was a massive breach of security, as it always was, when Vorador housed his playthings without waiting for a background check, endangering not only his life but those of his children. It was time to meet this Alima. Then she would find Alexander, this time she would talk and he would listen.
