Ravnglade, Festival Hall
Welcome to the Festival Hall
May all your fantasies come true.
A well-maintained cobbled road leads up to the large hall in Ravnglade, white washed stucco walls raise upward over four stories. The grounds are immaculate from what you can tell, the drive circles around a fountain that is lit in the evening. Rare species of daisies ring the circular fountain. You can see many terraces off of large arched glass doors.
After stepping from your carriage, a masked doorman closes the carriage door for you then with a sweep of his black gloved hand indicates the wide white marbled stairs. After entering the Hall’s main double doors you step into a wide lobby. Halls lead to the left and right, a plaque by the left hall reads Domino Theater, the one by the right, Banquet Rooms. Sweeping schefflera and blooming hibiscus plants are abundantly scattered about in exquisitely crafted urns. A masked woman in a short black dress with a deep red apron asks if she may take your cape.
Thirty feet in front of you the space opens up, you walk over to the railing, two enormous golden chandeliers come into view first. Spread out below you is the ballroom, the floor made up of coral-pink marble tiles. A handsomely crafted grand piano rests at the far end along with a beautiful harp, even from this distance you can tell each is a masterpiece. White linen covered round tables are grouped near the two instruments. You can see alcoves beyond white arches all along the sides of the ballroom. The crackle of fire carries to your ears giving hint to the large hearth hidden within one of the recesses.
During times of festivities long, white linen tables are laden with delicacies, ranging from exotic fruits, nuts, cheeses and mushrooms to trays of steaming meats and seafood attended to by masked chefs. Expertly carved and imaginative ice sculptures and enormous arrangements of flowers are the centerpieces of each buffet table. Masked waiters and waitresses weave in and out of the crowd making sure every glass is full.
Bringing your gaze back upwards you see a level between you and the ballroom below. One long railed deck holds chairs and music stands obviously where the orchestra plays during balls. Here and there rich sections of velvet hang from golden rods along the walls, the deep shades break up the monotony of the white stucco, gathered by golden tasseled twists of rope.
Your eyes travel along the railing your hands rest on to the left then trace the downward path of the white stairs along the wall, they make a turn and descend further until they reach a landing directly below you. The identical staircase from the right joins the landing. From there it is five more stairs to the floor of the ballroom.
Across from you is another large space to gather, a mirror almost to the one you’re in, a wide railed walkway runs along each wall, edging this upper level to the ballroom. You can see huge doors flung open wide leading out to a patio you imagine.
