02. Preparations by Szin
szin
Szin looked up from his work on the large stone. He wiped his sweaty brow with a bit of silk cloth. This work was tasking indeed, and it wore on his resources, magically, mentally and physically.
He paused in his work to look over at his other experiment. A flesh golem lay on his experiment table. It was his best one yet. Of course, no one would really appreciate the true magnificence of the creature. But that, in itself, was a complement. He had never worked so long to make a creature so perfect. And this one was a masterpiece.
He approached the work of art, coiling his thin boney fingers around its wrist. Lifting the arm, he surveyed the tiny stitchwork that held it together. It was hardly noticeable. The flawless skin covered greater secrets: strength and power. All it needed was a spark of life.
His dark eyes lifted, drawn to the iron cage at the back of the chamber. The form within it was gaunt and lifeless, but Szin knew that it would be the catalyst that set his plans in motion.
