With the failed suprise attack that never got off the ground, Firebrand took his time in killing Bellerayne while his forces moved magically through the Haven. Demitri and Thayne scrambled to coordinate another attack after a desperate communication from Ravnglade’s officials to buy them just a little more time arrived. The battle raged at the border of Haven nearest Ravnglade.

Through the night the battle raged. Firebrand’s army cut a wide path of destruction through Haven on its way to Ravnglade.
The Dragon Highlord Lythos’s knights mounted on top of dragons of every color filled the night sky, burned what they could, destroying for the seer pleasure of it. Drow magic withered vegetation and kept magical shields in place hampering the effectiveness of Haven’s diminutive archers.
Druids used the forest against the marauding troops, sections of ground opened up to devour the black-skinned elves, lightning was called down from the sky to strike at Firebrand’s largest dragons. Faerie dragons cast spells of confusion causing enemy soldiers to drop their weapons and wander aimlessly.
Acid and fire rained down from the furious dragonknights, providing a cruel death to centaurs and satyrs that were defending their forest home. Mindless demons savagely clawed through any unlucky enough to be captured, feasting on their victims. It was a holy war, an order from the Dark Queen Tahkisis herself and the Dragon Highlord was determined to prove himself. The loss of his own troops meant nothing to him, his only goal was to win.
As Thayne conferred with his generals in the map room, plotting the next wave of attacks and strategies, he sent Demitri past the frontline to meet with Ravnglade’s Council. Near dawn Thayne had returned to the battlefield now with Pashen at his side. When Demitri joined up with the two, Syriana appeared beside him. The situation was grave enough that petty hostilities were shoved to the background for the sake of Haven. Through the early morning hours they fought valiantly, managing to drive the flood of evil outside the border. They could taste victory when reports that Ravnglade launched its first massive assault. Firebrand’s army was sandwiched between the two forces.
Then reports came in of the deaths of two of Haven’s four amethyst dragons, the tide started to swing the other way. Darestique arrived with word that the Crimson Mist was now flooding in behind them, feeding on the wounded and claiming the dead. Dragons that had fallen took to the sky again, minus their flesh and spark of life, a crimson light filled their sightless orbs. Haven’s forces were now trapped between the Crimson Mist of the Scion and Firebrand’s armies. They had no choice, Thayne and Pashen called for a retreat before all was lost.
