04. Unsettling appearance by loki
loki
Loki stopped playing and lowered the pipes from his lips when someone appeared on the bank of the stream that ran through the Heart of Haven. Thayne had asked him to watch the horses when he and the others left for Dark Water, Loki stuck around, he liked this husband of his mother’s.
He could see the long white hair from where he was at, as he skipped closer Loki’s eyes widened. It was Pashen! Her vacant eyes glazed and a deep blue stared upwards, tiny motes of golden light swirled in their depths. He saw no sign of injury that could account for her sudden and drained appearance. Knowing she was safe eased his mind somewhat but Jexi and Cory were still wherever she’d been. All he could do is wait until they returned or Pashen awoke.

pashen
Pashen returned to herself slowly, the soft, moist earth beneath her. The first thing she saw was Thayne’s concerned eyes and for a few moments she lost herself in the love she saw there. She didn’t have time to digest what Thayne told her had happened when a terrible cramping ripped through her. Forced into the form of a black panther, she let out a feline cry that had Thayne scrambling to his feet. Knowing what was about to happen, he quickly sent Juanjarvis on his way.
Loki, with one knowing look took his leave of the enchanted clearing as well.
Thayne ported his family home to their island and saw to the children, settled them into bed after the long, eventful night then joined his wife out by the small pool at the bottom of the waterfall.
Much, much later, Pashen thought over her predicament. Her magic was not just failing her, it was becoming downright dangerous for others and herself to use. Steely gray eyes stared up at Thayne, her head rested on his lap and her hand slowly stroked over the young, white tiger that nestled against her side. Pashen grinned impishly, green shimmered in the gray depths of her eyes when one of the squirrels on his shoulders started digging through his hair.
His chuckle warmed her soul like nothing else could and for a few moments she watched the two squirrels race around his upper body. Slowly the green seeped out leaving her eyes once again a deep gray. Pashen had to finish the chamber she started so long ago then perhaps she would find a solution to her problems
