The Amber Mountains

When the very plates that make up the lands of Auvrynon clashed, fault lines rose up creating horsts while others sunk down to form rift valleys. It is at the summit of one such land formation that the Ancient Child Falls spills down into the Amber Weald acting as a life source. Small, standing lakes and streams of the clearest blue collect their water from rain and snowmelt and can be found throughout the rift valleys.

Hidden seclusion is the way of life for many races making their home in the mountains, such as wild and wood elves who claim the territory about the weald. The Amber Mountains are under the protection of a family of mysterious druids. These secluded hermits never reveal themselves, but they are there, keeping watch over all who live within their mountains. It is through the forces of nature that any know they exist – blessings of berries for those of worth, or strange swarms of bats, dense misleading fog, or even rock slides for those that are unwanted.

Despite these druids, outside factors threaten to destroy the balance of nature. It is more than just orc bandits that hunt the trade routes that open Auvrynon’s resources to city and capital gain, but dangerous creatures like manticore often attack travelers simply to feast upon fresh horseflesh. Mercenaries guard this route and will guide travelers and merchants through for the right price.
