03. Fire number 2 by loki

It took a lot to anger Loki, but the young satyr was still angry long after his mother left. Whoever had started the fire a few nights ago, struck again. The arsonists set fire to another copse not far from the first thicket. This time they were caught in the act, a pixie alerted Loki shortly after the fire began and he in turn, warned Pashen. Darestique arrived about the same time he did and was already locked in combat with the one of the perpetrators. Grass grew, snaking around the mage’s legs, winding tight and holding him in place, he retaliated with streaks of orange missiles that shot from his fingertips that sent the khaokin flying backwards to smash into a tree.
The battle was intense, another fire was trigged by one of the mage’s spells, his companions launched arrows at Loki and the pixies that fluttered in to help. Once Pashen arrived, the fight ended quickly. She was in no mood to mess around; Thayne and the others had left already for Dark Water, his and Syriana’s birthplace, and she wanted to check up with them having already been waylaid by a different emergency. Pashen had Jexi with her and took no chances. She arrived in the form of an enormous, luminescent dragon and simply ate the mage, snapping him up in her maw and swallowing him after a few satisfying crunches. Unfortunately the man’s associates witnessed that and ported away, leaving Loki without any means of discovering why they’d done it. In his opinion it was more than a destructive act of arson, there was something behind what they were doing.
After Pashen left, Loki and Darestique looked for clues, anything that might tell them why these people were setting the fires.
